Every beach has a feeling that photographs alone can't hold.

Holiday Postcards starts with a photo. A real beach, a real moment. Barcelona, Biarritz, sand and sea and the particular business of a holiday afternoon.

The picture taken is stripped to black and white first, its color taken away deliberately. Then the painting begins. Acrylics wash back over the scene. Warm ochre sand, yellow light, the grey-green of a sea breeze. And finally, epoxy seals it all in a glaze of yellowish color, pooling and flowing across the surface.

The result sits somewhere between photography and painting, mixing media and creating a new scene. The original scene is still there if you look for it. Figures on the beach, rocks, a car, the horizon, but now it exists inside something larger. A mood. A vibe. A feeling.
The specific joy of being somewhere warm with nowhere to be.

These are not souvenirs. They are the feeling of the place, preserved in paint and resin.
